World AIDS Day Awareness Seminar

Speakers from across the world and within the local community came together to give an awareness raising talk about AIDS and HIV both in Edinburgh and worldwide. The meeting was chaired by Gillian Stewart (pictured above), chair of the trustees of Waverley Care Trust.
speakers included:
- Martha Baillie from Waverly Care talked from a local perspective on the AIDS issue
- Shona Robinson, the SNP shadow health minister, talked about AIDS from a more political perspective.
- John McAllion, campaigner for Oxfam in Scotland, talked about AIDS from a perspective of fair trade and the pharmaceutical industry.
- Patricia Sawo - Eastern Africa coordinator for ANERELA+ (African Network of Religious Leaders living with or personally affected by HIV/AIDS). She talked about her experience of living with AIDS and also issues in Africa which she has encountered.
The event raised a total of £67.91 for Waverley Care Trust.
