student to run the marathon des sables
From 27 March Jordi Pitarch-Marquino, a Law Postgrad student at the University of Edinburgh, will be runner 595 in the gruelling Marathon des Sables 2008. Over 6 days Jordi will be sleepping rough and getting sand in his running shoes as he endures the 6 stages of this extreme marathon in the Sahara desert covering over 151 miles with temperatures often reaching 120°F.

Not really. Jordi has experienced first hand what it means to have a relative enduring a much tougher race: the race for life against cancer. By taking part in this marathon Jordi aims to raise much needed funds for the Association for International Cancer Research (AICR) to enable them to finance new cancer treatments and in turn hopefully save many lives.
With the support of ESCA, Stevenson College and his supporters (both individual and corporate), Jordi is ready to undertake this challenge to give cancer patients accross the globe the hope for a longer and better life – and he doesn't intend to let them down!
